Nic Kerdiles had retired from hockey and was working as a real estate broker in Nashville, according to his Instagram profile. He had played as a forward for the NHL's Anaheim Ducks and the AHL team San Diego Gulls after being drafted to the franchise in 2012, according to CBS Sports.

The Ducks offered their condolences for the former player's death on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. "An Irvine native, Nic became the first player from Orange County to play for the Ducks, in 2017. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his family and loved ones," the post read.

Kerdiles also appeared to have stayed friends with Savannah Chrisley even after the couple broke up. Savannah and her father, Todd Chrisley of "Chrisley Knows Best," even joined with Kerdiles in 2022 to speak out during an Instagram Live about the importance of addressing mental health issues after Kerdiles considered suicide.

"You just need to really take care of yourself, look at everything you're doing, and also, obviously, surround yourself with the best people like I have here," Kerdiles said, noting that he was grateful to have Todd and Savannah's support during that time.
